2010 SWIM LESSONS

All swim lessons are taught by Pool Director and Swim Coach, Bob Crosby,

and Whitney Wasielewski, Assistant Swim Coach and Assistant Pool Director.

You can enroll in group lessons, or arrange for private or small group instruction by either calling, or coming to the Pool Office in person.  The phone # at the Western Pool is

Group lessons are conducted on a daily basis, Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturdays.

Group lessons are ½ hour in length.

Group lessons will be held on June 5, 12, and 19th. We will begin our regular schedule on Wednesday, June 23rd.

Before that time, private or small group instruction can be arranged by appointment.

Lessons are not conducted on days of Swim Meets and Holidays!

GROUP LESSONS ARE ORGANIZED IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

D Group:  This is the developmental group for the swim team.  The cost for this group is $75 for the entire swim team season.  Young swimmers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join this group.  To see when this group meets, check out the swim team practice calendar.

Competitive Strokes for 8 & Unders:  These classes teach and refine the 4 competitive strokes:  butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle.  Work on starts and finishes will be covered as efficiency in the strokes becomes better.

Strokes, Starts, and Turns for ages 9 and Older:  These classes emphasize starts and turns, but also continue to include stroke instruction and refinement.

Coach Bob and Coach Whitney will he teaching the group lessons together this year.

When enrolling in a group, remember that you are not charged for a lesson unless your child is present.

RATES FOR INSTRUCTION IN 2010 ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Group Instruction - $11 per lesson or $100 for the entire swim team season.

Private Instruction - $36.00 per ½ hour

Semi-Private Instruction (Arranged by appointment in advance)

2 people - $45.00 per ½ hour ($22.50 per person)

3 people - $49.50 per ½ hour ($16.50 per person)

4 people - $56.00 per ½ hour ($14.00 per person)

5 or more people will be charged the group rate.

New for 2010: Take advantage of a great rate for group instructon - $100.  Rather than paying by the lesson, you can pay a one time $100 fee and attend all group lessons offered.  This woud equate to about $5 per lesson.  If you can't make at least 10 lessons, then paying as you go would be a better option. 

I strongly encourage all swim team members to compliment practice times with lesson instruction (especially those 10 and younger).  It is very critical for young swimmers to learn proper technique.  If a stroke fault is left uncorrected, it becomes almost impossible to correct at a later age.  Many things can be accomplished in a smaller group that cannot be attended to in a larger practice group.  Our success over the past few years, I’m convinced, has come from the tremendous response to the lesson program.
