Western Golf & Country is celebrating its 78th anniversary. In 1922, real estate developer B.E. Taylor selected one of the world’s most famous golf course architects, Donald Ross, to design this championship course. Today, the course reflects the same spirit and original features as Ross designed it in 1926. His signature small greens and naturally contoured fairways are just a few of the amenities that add to Western’s feel and tradition of a true Donald Ross course.
Over the years, Western Golf & Country Club has hosted a number of professional tournaments. Some of golf’s greatest players have tested the mettle of Western’s championship holes. Arnold Palmer, Slam’ in Sammy Snead, Gene ‘the Squire’ Sarazen, and Walter Hagen have all graced our fairways, and felt the test of Western’s natural beauty and playability.
Traditions have continued for over 78 years at this ‘hidden jewel’. Families, couples and singles all enjoy activities planned to meet the changing lifestyles of both golfing and social members. Our natural beauty and rich traditions are accentuated by the historic clubhouse and challenging golf course. Thank you for visiting our website, we trust you will enjoy your journey through Western’s history and highlights.
